- Prov. 18:24-- Prov. -- friends.(See 19:6). My ideal goal used to be "man of many
companions." No close friends in middle school and it hurt. Since then my goal
is to be friends with the One "who sticks closer than a brother."
- In high school, I became friends w/many people, but God was still my B.F.
- Having many friends doesn't ultimately fulfill -- who's really my friend?
- Be friendly to everyone, but don't pursue fulfillment in having friends.
- Prov. 12:26 -- You need good friends in life to hang out w/, rejoice w/, cry w/, to
encourage, keep accountable(27:6). God has wired us to need people.
- "cautious"-- don't be elitist, but choose your best friends carefully. Befriend
role models among your peers. You must actively pursue friends. Ex- Newcomb or
Fowler. Don't wait for people to call you.
- Prov.13:20-- You can have an influence on your friends but they'll likely influence
you more. Strength in #'s. I-- pulling someone off of a chair ex.
- You naturally imitate those you spend time w/. I- mannerisms. I Cor. 15:33.
- Get mature, wise Christians to be your best friends.
- For all your other friends, find a balance btw Christians and non-Christians.
- I-- friend w/people who got drunk but not going to drinking parties; degree.
- If all your friends are non-Christians, you won't have fellowship and you'll likely
draw away from God.
- If all your friends are Christians, you'll be insulated and hindered from impacting
the non-Christians who need the most help and love.
