What Have You Guys Been Learning in Quiet Time?
Philemon 1:1-7 Ingredients expanding in food (yeast). Do you want to expand
spiritually? "Faithful with little, given more."
- You need these components to share your faith and all of them will expand
when you do.
Faith- You must have it before you can share it. (I-Pastor)
- Philemon had faith (:5); Colossian church-his house (:2).
- Faith-Believing everything about Jesus and living it out.
- Share how often? Never finished; Church in His home.
: 6-"Sharing your faith"-Not a competition (Win or lose).
I.- Selfish babies don’t share; don’t hoard your faith.
A- "Sharing faith" does not equal teaching theology (144,000). You won’t lead
someone to Christ by winning a debate.
A- Stretch faith-must depend on God to witness.
2. Love-What do you do out of love vs. self?
- God shows us ultimate love; must love Him most.
- "If you love me, you’ll obey my commands." (Matthew 28:19-20)
- Only love for God empowers and sustains love for people (:5).
- World asks, "Why do you share your faith in Jesus?" Not salvation, not prestige,
but love (sharing treasure).
- Love Chinese people; most effective witness to them.
- Spiritual bond with people deepens your love.
Understanding- #1 fear: "I don’t know what to say" (:6)
- Causes you to read and memorize Bible more.
I- Reading all sheep verses before going to China.
- Don’t need to read whole Bible before witnessing.
- New Christians don’t need to accept long list of beliefs; just 2 radical ones
(Romans 10:9-10)
I- Telling about my Christmas presents reminds me of gifts.
Witness-Gives more understanding and appreciation of Jesus.
- Goal isn’t more knowledge, but more salvations.
- Sharing your faith in Jesus with others will stretch your faith, love, and
understanding, but we don’t witness for our sake. We witness for God’s renown
and the good of those who accept.
