Daniel 2:31-45: An everlasting kingdom
I.- Popular kingdom movies-- STAR WARS; LORD OF RINGS.
Daniel was in the kingdom that conquered his(605-536 BC).
Daniel interprets this dream for babylonian king.
1. Earthly kingdoms-- Are like statues.
- Statue dream was A/B real kingdoms: Babylon, Medes-Persian, Greece, Rome, &
Future 10 (:38B -41).
- Describe a statue(:31)--Enormous or beautiful, manmade; it imitates real people.
I.- Statue of liberty-- Impressive, Yet limited.
- Statues aren't evil, but we shouldn't worship them.
- S,M,&A(3:12) Worshipped God; not a statue.
- D(6:7) Worshipped God, but not a person/earthly kingdom.
- Physical nations are impressive, yet temporary.
I. - Look at ancient Greece; Temple of artemis(statue)
- Nations are flawed B/C of people; Manmade(:44).
- Respect & value nations, but don't worship them.
2. Everlasting kingdom-- one kingdom to rule them all.
- Bible isn't just God fitting in earthly kingdoms.
- God is king over his own eternal kingdom.
- :34 Manmade statue vs. Godmade rock (Jesus).
- Has his kingdom come? It has w/Jesus-Olive branch.
- "Your kingdom come?" It will again w/Jesus w/A sword.
:44- God's will be the last & only kingdom forever.
- God's kingdom is his presence; heaven; worship.
- No pain, death, or injustice in God's kingdom.
- Humanist: care for earth B/C God created it.
- God says, "I'll create a new heaven & new earth."
- Citizen of a nation & citizen of heaven(PH. 3:20)
- Proud to be American, but prouder to be God's child.
- I'd die fighting for USA; rather die sharing Jesus.
- I pledge allegiance to the lord, the savior, & my king.
- God never needs to run for reelection.
